This is where you will have access to important information related to our team and our season. This includes the registration form for our Summer Running Camp, our team rules,  information about training, our training schedule (and locations) and our meet schedule. It will be updated as needed throughout the summer and the season. Don’t forget to sign up for our group (text @polyxc to 81010)…More info on this below. Just SCROLL…

Note: The Poly Cross Country “try-out” period is over. If you are interested in running (distance or otherwise) please contact Coach Lopez ( to get info about our pre-season track and field training!

Physicals: ALL ATHLETES MUST HAVE A VALID AND CURRENT PHYSICAL PACKET ON FILE IN THE POLY HS OFFICE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN PRACTICE. (Note: The packet–the link to download and printout everything is below–also includes emergency contact and insurance information!) The office will give you a copy of the emergency/transportation form to turn in to Coach Enyeart. Please make sure that everything on that form can be read clearly because it serves as an emergency contact form for the coaching staff. You will also want to make a copies for yourself to give to any coaches of winter or spring sports you are involved in.

Athletic Trainers: You may see our on-site athletic trainer (Megan Lopez) or go to the Sports Clinic. Make sure you discuss this with a coach and your parents! Riverside Sports Clinic LINK  (located at Riverside Medical Clinic on Brockton Ave.) Note: The Sports Clinic is free to RUSD athletes. If you have any injuries, this is the place to get treatment. They are specialists in sports medicine and can help you to treat and train through injuries.

Archived “News” Items:

New Runner Information Meeting (5/13):

This will be held in room 104 on Monday, May 13th at 6:00pm. To get to room 104, park in the student lot (on Central Ave.) and walk toward the pool entrance. Across from the pool, you will see a green fence and gate. Go through that gate and the back door to room 104 is in there and the door will be open for the meeting. Please download and print out the Summer XC Running Camp Registration form for more info (link is below). You may also bring the completed form with you to the meeting (and the Suggested Donation! 🙂 ) if you want to take care of business right away! Link: Meeting Flyer



1st Official Day of Summer Running Camp: is Thursday, June 27th, 2019. We will meet at 6pm at the Poly HS Track. Please bring the following items filled out and signed:

  • Summer Camp Registration forms filled out (Donations: cash/check payable to “Riverside Poly Bears Cross Country”)
  • Transportation Form stamped “OK to Participate” from the physical packet (see info below)
  • Last page of the Poly XC Team Rules and Social Media/Harassment/Bullying contract signed (both sides)
  • Club Sport Contract filled out (if applicable)

The booster officers will give parents more information that night about how you can get involved with the team and answer your questions related to “all things Poly Cross Country”! Athletes will be doing a workout…so be sure to dress appropriately, wear some running shoes and bring plenty of water!

Poly XC June Summer Training Schedule (2019)

This includes June workouts that athletes can do on their own to be prepared for Summer Running Camp. The “Captain’s Practices” are voluntary…but kids tend to like to train “on their own” with their friends. The voluntary Weight Training sessions will also help athletes prepare for camp. They also count as “extra credit” practices (two lifting practices = one extra practice) toward making the 34 practices that make up the summer training requirement to run at the merit meet (Cool Breeze Invite). Week-By-Week In-Depth Schedule: (Contains Locations, Times, Dates and Workout Info)  Note: Please use this document to find out locations and times for our summer practices. You will notice that we move to mornings after summer school ends and will have two practices (morning and evening) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7/23 – 8/6. We have included the workouts to allow athletes to better prepare for them…not to avoid the tough workouts (which are the most important ones). This is also a “living” document that may be updated periodically with changes.

Mandatory Informational Meeting: (Tuesday, August 13, 2019 @6pm in the Poly HS Library)

The first part of this meeting is the “Fall Sports Meeting” with our Athletic Director (Jim Vaughan). He will go over the Parent Code of Conduct and other items. You can also ask questions. Following that meeting–either in the Library or moving over to room 104–we will have an Information/Booster meeting where you will get info on the upcoming season (expectations, updated race schedule, practices, etc.), upcoming fundraisers, and how you can be involved with helping out (spaghetti dinners, race-day snack donations, being a booster officer, helping host our home XC meet on 9/18, etc.). Your athletes have been putting in the hard work all summer and this is the big payoff! The more support we can give them, the more successful they will be!


New School Year…New Runners: We always get a handful of new runners during the first week of school. If this is YOU, make sure you have a physical on file in the office and bring me a copy of the “Transportation” form (see below). You will be able to practice with us in the evenings from 8/12 through 8/23. On 8/24 at 6am up on the Poly HS Track, we will have our last time trial. If you make the time, you make the team (see “Team Rules” below)! After that, we will not be adding any more athletes to our roster.
