Multiple Teams · Fastback Shootout Gives a Glimpse of What is to Come!

September 1st, 2018

On an early and cool morning at Arcadia Park, the Poly Cross Country team stepped out on a 2-mile course to start their season…and they did not disappoint! While 2 miles is “one short” of a standard high school cross country race, our athletes were out to beat their 2-mile PRs (Personal Records) and finally run against someone NOT wearing green and orange. Overall, our girls team ended up in 4th place and our boys team finished in 9th. This was fantastic, considering we didn’t have all of our top runners available to race that day and MANY others stepped up BIG TIME in their place! All runners ran in grade-level races, but Finished Results provided “merged scoring” (because coaches just have to know these things?). In short, EVERYONE destroyed their 2-mile time trial marks from the summer (with the exception of a couple runners coming off of injury)! Here are a few other highlights:

Top Boys Finishers:

Sam Medure (10): 9:56, Justin Bartlebaugh (12): 10:10, Isaac Umana (10): 10:10, Nathaniel Scott-Negrette (9): 10:38, Andrew Carlson (12): 10:39, plus 7 runners from 10:59-11:19!

Top Girls Finishers:

Carly Marshall (10): 11:33, Kalista Tibbels (10): 12:04, Elena Umana (11): 12:10, Soleil Russo (10): 12:42, and Teresa Rangel (12): 12:54, plus 3 other runners under 13:48!

Great effort everyone!!! Now…on to the 3-mile races!
