Bears News · Cross Country Successful in Season Debut!

Week Three marked the beginning of the Cross Country Season as our Bears ran at the Arcadia Invitational. The Bears had several PR’s this weekend but a few runners stood out from the pack. On the boys’ side, Sam Medure broke the 10-minute mark for the two-mile course with a 9:56 followed closely by Justin Bartlebaugh and Isaac Umana with a 10:10. The Lady Bears were led by first time runner Carly Marshall with a time of 11:33 followed by veterans Kalista Tibbels (12:04) and Elena Umana (12:10). On the whole, the team experienced several personal bests and set the groundwork for success down the road. The Bears return to competition this weekend at the Cool Breeze Invitational. The first league cluster meet will take place on 9/12/18 at Paloma Valley High School. Please wish them luck!

The Lady Bears Golf Team returned to action this past week with matches versus Murrieta Valley and ML King High Schools. These were rematches from earlier contests this season. The Lady Bears had mixed results with a win versus Murrieta Valley shooting their lowest round of the year but then followed it up with a disappointing round against ML King. The Lady continue to get stronger as they have dropped 16 strokes from their first performance of the year before the slip up against King. The Lady Bears are 3-2 on the season and look to rebound versus Centennial High School on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Bears Tennis Team picked up their first win this past week in a match with Woodcrest Christian High School (11-7). The Lady Bears arguably have the toughest schedule in Division II. The Lady Bears did drop a match with Great Oak and Santa Margarita High Schools (each team is ranked in Division I). The Lady Bears will look to add to their win total this week versus ML King on Thursday 9/6/18.

The Lady Bears Volleyball Team dropped another two matches this past week with losses to two tough opponents who look to make noise in their respective leagues, Redlands and Yucaipa High Schools. The Bears are still searching for that elusive first win of the season. The Lady Bears have played a tough schedule that will get them ready for the upcoming Ivy League Season. The Lady Bears will look for that first win when they take on Rim of the World and Elsinore High Schools this coming week. The Ivy League Season begins this coming Thursday versus Elsinore High School at Riverside Poly High School.

The Bears Football Team dropped its non-league contest with the Bearcats from Bonita High School. The final score was 47-28. Though the score looks lopsided, it does not reflect how close the game actually was. The Bears were able to match the Bearcats scores but a few turnovers and mistakes resulted in the final score. The Bears definitely improved upon their efforts from its season opener versus Chaparral High School. The Bears are still looking for that first win but they will have bitter rival Martin Luther King coming to Ramona Stadium next Saturday to end that drought. The Bears will have a raucous crowd supporting them in this endeavor so please make sure to come out for the game. It will be exciting!

Lastly, the Bears Water Polo Team will begin their season this week with a non-league match with Murrieta Mesa High School. The Bears have a strong team that is placed in the elite Division I/II this season.
